Vietnam Giants Ink Deal to Build Five 20,000-DWT Ships

Hau Giang Shipbuilding Co, an affiliate of Vinashin Business Group, has recently contracted to build five 20,000-DWT ships for Vinashin Ocean Shipping Co. Ltd (Vinashinlines), said state media Friday.

 

The total contract value is reported at VND1.5 trillion (US$97.3 million) and expected to be completed in 2012 in a plan to increase vessel fleet of Vinashinlines, the Vietnam News Agency noted.

 

The vessels are designed by the Vietnam’s Institute on Shipping Technology and build under the Vietnam Registration Agency.

 

Pha Rung Shipbuilding Co, an affiliate of the Vinashin, March 8 delivered a cargo vessel weight 20,000 tons to Vinashinlines. This was also designed by the Vietnam Institute for Industrial Ship, built under the supervision of and approved by Vietnam’s Registration Department. (VNA, Vietnam & World Economy)
