U.S. Microchip Firm Opens US$1 Mln Design Center in Vietnam

The U.S.-based Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) March 18 opened a US$1 million design center in Vietnam, the group’s biggest-ever center of this kind abroad.
 
The AMCC Vietnam center, located at the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, will specialize in designing integrated circuits (IC).
 
It will focus on designing power chips and is searching for a Vietnamese partner in designing circuit boards.
 
Highly appreciating the close ties between universities and the industrial sector in Vietnam, the AMCC Vietnam has signed a tripartite agreement with the Mentor Graphics and the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology on supply of labs, software and facilities.
 
AMCC is a global leader in network and embedded PowerPC(r) processing, optical transport and storage solutions. Its products enable the development of converged IP-based networks offering high-speed secure data, high-definition video and high-quality voice for carrier, metropolitan, access and enterprise applications.
