Thep Viet Trademark: The Pride of Vietnamese Steel Industry

Set up in 1992, Thep Viet has always strived to provide the best products and services to satisfy customers&rsquo needs. Thep Viet, as its name, is determined to become the pride of the Vietnamese steel industry.
 
With the desire to contribute to the industrialisation and modernisation of the country by investing in the steel industry, Thep Viet has carried out a number of important projects such as Vingal Industries Co. Ltd - the largest industrial plating factory in Vietnam, Tay Do Steel Co. Ltd with an annual output of 120,000 tonnes, Pomina Steel Mill 1 with an annual output of 300,000 tonnes per annum and Pomina Steel Mill 2 with 300,000 tonnes per annum. The total investment capital for the two Pomina mills was US$68 million.
 
In 2007, Thep Viet steel mill started operating the ingot refining unit with an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum. With Consteel technology, this is the most modern production line in the world.
 
At present, Thep Viet is carrying out the second phase of the ingot mill, with a refinery of one million tonnes annual capacity and a cold-rolled laminated factory of 1.2 million tonnes capacity. This phase is expected to complete in late 2009, raising total investment capital in industrial zones in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province to US$500 million and increasing total production capacity of the Thep Viet tem to 1.5 million tonnes of refined steel, 1.6 million tonnes of steel bars and 1.2 million tonnes of steel sheets. Besides, Thep Viet is promoting the establishment of a steel industrial zone to turn out 3 million tonnes of pig-iron and 3 million tonnes of steel per annum.
 
Pomina Steel trademark has become a symbol of quality. Since its establishment, Thep Viet was aware that quality is decisive to success. Thus, Pomina applied the ISO 9001:2000 international quality management tem. Pomina also applied Japan&rsquos JIS standard, US&rsquos ASTN standard and Vietnam&rsquos TCVN standard. Apart from the business front, Thep Viet is also very concerned about waste treatment to protect the surroundings. Pomina is the first steelmaker in southern Vietnam to obtain ISO 1400 certificate for environment protection
 
Mr Do Duy Thai, General Director of Thep Viet, said: Pomina steel products have been widely used in construction projects in Vietnam. Famous projects include Ben Luc bridge, Tan An bridge, Dong Nai hyower plant, Yaly hyower plant, The Manor buildings, Saigon Pearl complex and Phu My Hung new urban zone.
 
With its outstanding achievements, in 2007 Thep Viet was granted the Vietnam Golden Star Award, Outstanding Saigon Business Award, Golden Trademark (granted by the National Office of Intellectual Property) and others. Thep Viet is now the second largest among 500 private companies in Vietnam, according to VietnamNet electronic newspaper and the General Statistics Office (GSO).
