Vietnam Leading Thermal-power Firm Posts Profit of VND95 Bln in January
Pha Lai Thermal-power Joint Stock Company (PPC), listed on the country’s main stock exchange, announced that it gained pretax profit of VND95.4 billion (US$5.6 million) on gross revenues of VND373.6 billion (US$22 million) in January.
The firm targets to earn VND297.1 billion (US$17.5 million) in pretax profit on VND3.8 trillion (US$223.9 million) in gross revenues in 2009, with total electricity output of six trillion kWh.
PPC is among five companies with biggest amount of share listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange. It has 325 million shares with market capitalization of VND5.8 trillion.
The blue-chip stock has recently been put under special monitor of the exchange due to its loss of VND469.4 billion (US$27.7 million) caused by fluctuation in Japanese Yen value last year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
