Ms. Nichapa Yoswee, Managing Director of Reed Tradex Company, one of Thailand’s and Indochina’s leading exhibition and conference organizers revealed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) plans to invest in advanced technologies, up to 45 percent of the total production until 2020, in many industrial sectors, such as computer electronics, mechanical engineering and metallurgy, as well as to increase the funding for research into developing these industries.
 
Consequently, the government will provide relevant businesses preferential interest rates, guaranteed bank loans and import tax breaks for their high-technology projects. As well, it will create favorable atmosphere to encourage overseas technology transfers to Vietnamese partners, and soon to finalize policies on sale of shares for foreign businesses in this particular sector

Mr. Hoang Thai An, Vietnam Electrotechnical Industry Association’s Chairman uncovered that high domestic demand is a huge opportunity for the development of this industry, and that electrical equipment manufacturers still have an opportunity to diversify their product lines which can save electricity and use energy more efficiently. In the meantime, the association has submitted a tax proposal to the Ministry of Finance to help reduce import taxes for the electronics entrepreneurs. Also, it has urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ratify regulations on electronics contractor appointment.
 
A representative of the Association of Electronics Industries in Singapore (AEIS) said that, “Vietnam is an up and coming market. Exhibitors felt that Vietnam would be the right place and time to expand their businesses”; the association is bring in a whopping number more than 20 companies to exhibit in “Singapore Pavilion” in the show where they will be able to establish or advance relationships with Vietnamese buyers. Coming in groups are also China Group and Japan Group.
