4 Vietnam Firms Not Dump Pangasius Fish in U.S.: DOC
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced the fifth review result of its antidumping duty imposed on Vietnam’s frozen pangasius fish, in which four Vietnamese seafood firms are recognized not to dump their products in the U.S. within a year ending July 31 last year.
These companies are Vinh Hoan Corporation (Vinh Hoan), Saigon-Mekong Co. Ltd (SAMEFICO), Cadovimex II Seafood Im-Export JSC (Cadovimex II), and QVD Foods Co.
DOC will exempt anti-dumping tax from these four companies after finding no trace of dumping among them in the U.S. market during the time.
In the result, DOC also concluded that An Giang Fisheries Import and Export JS Company (Agifish) has dumped its frozen fish products at two U.S. cents per kilo in the U.S. market. Others, meanwhile, dumped at US$2.11 per kilo.
Earlier, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said it would maintain the anti-dumping tax on a certain volume of frozen pangasius products imported from Vietnam in the next five years.
ITC believed that removal of the tax, as required by the Uruguay Round Table Agreement, would encourage Vietnamese exporters to dump their pangasius products in the U.S. again.
Last year, Vietnam exported only US$78 million worth of frozen pangasius products to the U.S., accounting for 10.55% of the country’s total seafood export revenue to this market. (CafeF)
