A group of experts from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology will pay a visit to Can Tho City on September 16 in a move to help Vietnam develop bio-fuel in the Mekong Delta region.

The Mekong Delta region boasts a great potential to develop bio-fuel, particularly tra catfish fat, straw, rice husk, coconut, castor oil plant, sesame, soy-bean, sugar cane, and seaweed.

Last month, Minh Tu Limited Company reached an agreement to export 200,000 liters of bio-diesel produced from vegetable oils and animal fats to Singapore.

Vietnam plans to produce 1.8 million tons of ethanol and vegetable fuel oil by 2025 in order to meet 5% of the national petroleum demand. (HCM City Law)
