Vietnam Ranks 11th in Terms of World’s Modern Technology Spending: WEF

Vietnam has been ranked 11th out of 133 economies in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2009 Index on the amount of money the government spends on technology.
 
Vietnam’s expenditure on technology is even higher than that of China, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom.
 
The Southeast Asian nation also came 44th for creativity, 48th for foreign direct investment and technology transfer, 51st for the technological abilities of enterprises and 62nd for the ratio of personal computers per 100 residents.
 
However, Vietnam dropped five places to the 75th position in the Competitiveness Index, said the WEF.
 
This year’s World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting is scheduled to open in China from September 10-12. (Vietnam Post, VietnamPlus)
