Japan to Exempt 7,220 Tax Lines for Vietnam-sourced Imports from Oct 1

Japan will exempt 7,220 out of 9,100 import tax lines for Vietnamese products from October 1 to March 31, 2012 in line with the Vietnam-Japan economic partnership agreement (VJEPA) to take effect from early next month, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Friday.
 
Vietnamese fruits, shrimp and shrimp products, watches, clocks, glasses, steel and iron, interior decorations and toys will be subject to the Japanese tax exemption.
 
Meanwhile, Vietnam will also cancel 2,586 out of 8,873 tax lines for imports from Japan during the time, the source said but giving details.
 
Under VJEPA, Hanoi and Tokyo agreed to exempt taxes for 92% of bilateral traded goods within 10 years of implementation (2009-2019).
