Vietnam Should Set Ceiling, Floor Power Prices: Ministry
Vietnam should set ceiling and floor electricity prices for its competitive power generation market, which is slated for operation in 2010, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) will approve the ceiling prices annually and prices of power are not allowed to surpass by 5% of 2009’s rates, the ministry said.
The ceiling prices should be eligible for turbines that use domestic materials, it noted.
Meanwhile, the floor prices for electricity produced by thermal power plants should be VND1/kWh.
The ceiling prices for hydroelectricity should be 110% of prices of water weekly and the floor prices will be 90% of the weekly water prices.
Vietnam requires all power plants which have capacity of 30 MW or more, regardless of BOT mode, join the competitive power generation market, the ministry added. (Youth, VietNamNet)
