Vietnam Food Company Exports 300,000 Tons of Broken Rice to U.S.

Tien Giang Food Company has exported 30,000 tons of broken rice to the US, the company’s director, Nguyen Ngoc Nam, said.
 
The rice was selling for US$293 a ton, the director added.
 
The company has also shipped 10 containers (nearly 300 tons) of fragrant, white rice and high-class girdle cake to the market.
 
Nam said rice price in the world market has rebounded, around US$20 a ton on average. On Oct 1, Vietnamese 5% broken rice was offered at US$395 a ton, and 25% broken rice, US$340 a ton.
 
According to Vietnamese Food Association (VFA), its members bought 378,526 tons of rice as of Sept, meeting 75.7% of plan. (Youth)
