Intel Vietnam to Operate US$1B Chip Plant Next Q2
Intel Vietnam will put its chip assembling plant valued at US$1 billion in Ho Chi Minh City into operation in the second quarter of next year, two months sooner than the expectation, according to newly-appointed CEO Debjani Ghosh as saying.
It will be Intel’s largest global chip manufacturing facility and a model for its chip assembly and testing systems.
The Vietnam facility will be the seventh assembly and test site in Intel's global network.
Debjani Ghosh, who is director of Intel Group’s Southeast Asia, temporarily run Intel Vietnam beginning Oct. 1 after CEO Than Trong Phuc left office.
Intel would continue its commitments to help narrow digital gaps in Vietnam and boost the country’s IT industry development, she said in a meeting with Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Minh Hong.
It will strongly cooperate with communication fund to bolster IT application in rural areas, she noted. (Vietnam Post, Vietnamnet)
