With the initial objectives of operating and developing urban and industrial parks, Kinhbac City Development Share Holding Corporation (KBC) has not only turned the Que Vo Industrial Park into an exemplary industrial park in Vietnam, but also successfully operated and expanded many urban areas, hotels, commercial centres and industrial parks across the country.
On December 19, 2002, the Que Vo Industrial Park was established by a decision of the Prime Minister. KBC was provided 300 ha of land for building the park and attract investors.
Overcoming initial challenges in raising capital for in infrastructure construction investment, the well-designed and synchronously invested Que Vo Industrial Park has to date been expanded to 1,000 ha, consisting of industrial park, urban zone, amusement zone, and service zone. The park is now housing more than 50 Vietnamese and international investors with a combined registered capital amounting to billions of US dollars. Many tenants are world-acclaimed multinational corporations like Canon, Nippon Steel, Mitsuwa, Toyo Ink, Tenma, Foxconn, Mitac, VS Group, Sentec, Tyco Electronics, SR I - Tech, which have created thousands of jobs for local people and paid a large amount of tax to the provincial budget. Their contributions have powered the process of industrialisation and modernisation of Bac Ninh province.
With its resounding success, an expansion project for the Que Vo Industrial Park was adopted and completed in 2007, aiming to meet the growing demand of domestic and foreign investors. The expanded area was 300 ha, including nearly 20 ha used to build homes for workers, especially foreigners. Standard workshops are built in a way that is modern and convenient, and use highly durable materials. And, after just over one year of operation, the expanded Que Vo Industrial Park was selected as the first place in a chain that would develop Vietnam - Japan supporting industrial model, and was supported by the governments of the two nations. And, this was also an opportunity for the fledgling supportive industry of Vietnam to learn and develop.
At present, in addition to the Que Vo Industrial Park and the expanded Que Vo Industrial Park, in Bac Ninh province, Kinhbac City is developing two other industrial park projects, namely the 440-ha Yen Phong 2B and the 120-ha Ninh Phuc, and a 6-ha affordable housing project for low-income people and workers in Que Vo industrial parks.
During 2008 and 2009, although Vietnam as well as other countries was adversely affected by the global economic crisis and many companies fell into serious recession; KBC still achieved outstanding growth and impressive results. In addition to industrial park infrastructure investment, KBC has expanded its business operations to real estate, banking, mining, energy, telecommunication and others across Vietnam. The corporation’s assets increase 80 percent a year on average. Moreover, the owner’s equity rises in the region of 150 percent a year, much faster than total asset growth.
Not only excellent at business operations, KBC is also typically active in social activities. KBC leaders actively take part in charitable activities and reliefs to flood victims. With such meaningful activities, KBC was awarded the leading flags of the Government for its excellent completion of business tasks and patriotic campaigns in five consecutive years from 2004 to 2008. In 2007, the corporation was honourably offered the Third-grade Labour Order by the State President. Besides, it also won a lot of other significant awards and titles, including the Business Star Award for Most Successful Integrating Company, the Trusted Securities Award (2008 and 2009); the Top 10 Stock Award presented by Standard & Poor's; the Trade & Service Award, the Golden Globe Award, the Vietnam Star Award (2008); and the Top 10 Vietnam Golden Star Award (2009).
