Dynamic and modern Hanoi, with a variety of busy shopping malls, is proving Vietnam’s prosperity in the time of integration. 17 July 2010 witnessed the official opening ceremony of Grand Plaza in Hanoi. This is an international standard trade centre which belongs to the first five star complex of hotel-restaurants plaza in Hanoi.
Attractive destination
Located in the West gate of the city, Grand Plaza has a strategic position in development plan of Western Hanoi. This is the intersection of key residential and commercial areas such as Trung Hoa – Nhan Chinh residential area, National Convention Centre, Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Centre, The Manor Hanoi, My Dinh residential area and future projects.

The five-storey shopping mall with 15,000 square metres is luxuriously designed. Entering the first floor, the customers can’t take their eyes away from stores of luxury jewellery, cosmetics, perfume, and watches. The M floor is a collection of fashion stores, accessories, and international brand leather products. Stores of office fashion, casual dress by strong Vietnamese brands, sport suits and equipment, and souvenirs lie on the second floor. The third floor is the shopping area for families, offering interior decorations, home appliances, bedding, and high tech electronic products.
Beyond the attractive stores, customers will have unforgettable moments at the fourth floor restaurants. There are 17 varied food courts, two coffee shops and a 400 square metre restaurant serving Asian-European fusion, which meets the customers’ needs for specialties and flavours from all over the world.
Prominent plaza model
Grand Plaza is committed to the opulent plaza model. To ensure efficient operation, the plaza’s Management Board has been established and played a key role in working out direction and choice of brands. Mr Hai said, “At the moment we are re-structuring and reforming the plaza. Grand Plaza will not pursue quantity, with a fast fill-up rate, but rather take methodical steps, choose qualified brands so that Grand Plaza deserves being the top luxury plaza in Hanoi. Accordingly, the brands need to meet criteria: already reputable brands in the market; adequate legal documents; and in accordance with plaza planning.
Plans for advertising and stimulating consumption will be worked out in both short term and long term strategies. Consistent management activities among investors and store owners will ensure good operation for the plaza toward homogeneous development and operation, building the brand of Grand Plaza. Operation management is also given priority by the management staff of IDJ Financial Company. The Grand plaza is doing its best to train professional personnel and in the future it plans to hold training courses specialized in service management and customer service for plaza staff.
“We and investors are seeking agreement to invite the top reputable management partners in the world to operate and manage Grand Plaza,” added Mr Hai. Many brands are negotiating to lease retail space and it is expected that by the end of 2011, the plaza will have over 80 percent of the space filled.
