Vietnam’s IT Competitiveness Index Jumps Three Places
A Business Software Alliance (BSA) study on Vietnam’s Information Technology (IT) competitiveness index shows a three-place jump from 2009.
The rating of 66 economies aims to define areas in the IT field that should be focused on to increase competitiveness.
Vietnam is placed 53rd, while Malaysia jumps 11 places to 31st, India 10 places to 34th and Singapore 6 places to 3rd. The US and Finland top the list.
This year’s study is based on six major areas, including business environment, IT infrastructure, human resources, legal environment, research and development, and State support for the development of IT industry.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Government is trying to complete a legal mechanism for IT application in the lead-up to electronic-Government. In 2010, the Prime Minister approved a project to quickly turn Vietnam into a strong country in the field of information technology and a national programme on IT application in state agencies’ activities during 2011-2015 period.
