While cumbersome lending procedures at commercial banks are troublesome and borrowing short-term loans or mortgaging properties at private pawnshops entails significant risk, MECash Joint Stock Company (Maritime Express Cash) quickly meets cash demand of customers in Vietnam with gold mortgage services. In an interview granted to Vietnam Business Forum, Mr Nguyen Viet Khoa, President and General Director of MECash, asserted that all activities of his company are for customers. Luu Hiep reports.
MECash is known as the first professional gold mortgage service provider in Vietnam. After one year of operation, what services is MECash providing?

First, we guarantee that all our activities are for customers. Our staff always listen to customer opinions to provide better services.
Second, MECash builds its prestige and brand name on the market. Hence, ensuring the safety and security of customer assets is our top priority. All MECash transaction offices have surveillance cameras running around the clock. In addition, MECash hires vault services of Maritime Bank. At the end of business day, all properties are inventoried and transferred to the Maritime Bank Vault Centre for safekeeping and absolute protection.
Third, it is quite easy to recognise that MECash business spaces are modern, professional and completely different from private pawnshops.
How does this compare with banking services? For example, if a customer needs a large sum of money but does not want to do it with banks, what does he need to prepare and how long does he need to wait for such a mortgaged loan at MECash?
Of course, there are not as many procedures and records as when borrowing at banks. At MECash, customers only need to show identification (ID card or passport) and gold as mortgage asset. With our experienced and reputed evaluation team, it takes only five minutes to reach the deal.
The highest borrowing rate is 85 percent of the value of pledged assets.

Apart from Hanoi and HCM City, does MECash intend to expand operations to other provinces and cities?
Thus far, the MECash network includes six transaction offices in Hanoi and HCM City. To better meet customer needs, MECash plans to expand its network to Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh. These are promising markets. In addition, with the trust of customers in Maritime Express Cash brand, we will franchise it in the near future and build an agent system.
