DOMESCO Promoting Vietnam Pharmaceutical Industry

Domesco Medical Import Export Joint Stock Corporation has earned the total trust of investors since it got involved in pharmaceutical industry 23 years ago. By placing a premium on customer interests and enhancing product quality as mentioned in its operating philosophy “For life quality,” DOMESCO has gradually dominated the market and grown to a powerful pharmaceutical company in Vietnam with a plenty of noble titles and awards.
Quality is vital
Being fully aware that its products have direct effect on health and life of users, DOMESCO has continually improved its product quality and operating efficiency to supply best drugs for humans at reasonable prices and with best services.
 
To make success in building quality system, DOMESCO initially uses ISO 9001:2008 standard set as the measure of assessment. On that foundation, the corporation applied registrations for Vietnamese TCVN standards. Under the light of its guiding philosophy “High quality and high efficiency are vital objectives,” DOMESCO has constantly improved governance, productivity, quality and competitiveness of products by means of applying the Good Manufacturing Practices of the World Health Organisation (GMP-WHO) standard system as the basis for building modern medicine production systems and independent, close and effective quality control systems. Following GMP-WHO standards, DOMESCO always strives to manage quality issues comprehensively; finished products always meet registered quality, uniform, effective and safety norms. Besides, the establishment of many quality control circles (QCC) to quickly resolve quality-related matters and potential risks enabled DOMESCO to maintain and implement GMP-WHO. With the development pace, the corporation built quality control labs meeting modern Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)and ISO/IEC 17025 standards (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) to acquire accurate quality information timely. The firm also applies the certified "Good Storage Practices" system to its warehouses. In addition, DOMESCO deploys the Good Distribution Practices” (GDP) system and "Good Pharmacy Practice” (GPP) in its nationwide business network in order to improve product quality and offer reasonable prices for customers, helping implement the final stage of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) system.
 
 In addition to production and business activities, DOMESCO places a premium on corporate social responsibility, the environment and worker health. Therefore, the corporation always seeks ways and means to minimise adverse impacts on the environment and harmful factors on occupational health and safety by integrating ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system and OHSAS 18001:2007 occupational health and safety system into existing quality management system.
 
Together with its efforts for applying advanced techniques and planting standard medicinal materials, DOMESCO attaches special importance to investment in scientific and technological human resources. With continuous scholarships and training programmes, DOMESCO has been building young and knowledgeable workforce to undertake modern production technologies and management methods. With a young, dynamic and well-trained technical scientific workforce, DOMESCO focuses on three core technologies, namely biotechnology, automation technology and information technology. According to development strategy for the 2013-2015 period and towards 2020, DOMESCO will become a sustainable pharmaceutical and functional food group capable of occupying a big domestic market share, enhancing the prestige in international markets, and boosting up exports. To achieve these objectives, DOMESCO advocates maintaining and developing Total Quality Management (TQM), integrating ISO and OHSAS standard sets, applying WHO-GMP standards, and progressing to GMP-PICS to supply high-quality products for customers. Besides, it invests in expanding and deepening research and development to create many new products, preparations by using new technologies and advanced equipment to pass technical barriers to international trade (TBT). It will also plan exportation. In late 2008, DOMESCO invested to build a high-tech pharmaceutical factory. Initially, the company had natural medicinal products like Dogarlic (garden and domeric), Domeric (domeric), and noni juice. Phuong stressed that "With this development strategy, DOMESCO always grasps every opportunity to cooperate in research, production, import and export of pharmaceutical products and functional foods.
