Energy Efficiency and Conservation Standard to Be Applied to New Houses from 2012

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed Decision No. 1427/QD-TTg dated October 2, 2012 approving the National Target Programme for Energy Efficiency and Conservation period 2012-2015.

 

To obtain a target of saving 5 - 8 per cent of national energy consumption during 2012 - 1015, the Prime Minister requested concerned ministries and units to apply compulsory Vietnam Construction Standards on “Energy efficient Construction projects” to all newly built or upgraded buildings.

 

As for transportation, the 2012-2015 programme targets at developing an energy efficient and environment-friendly system to meet the increasing need for transport. New technology such as alternative energy will be used in transportation. By 2015, public passenger transport will meet at least 10-15 per cent of demand in urban areas.
