Canada Grants VND2.24Bln to Ethnic Minority Groups

Canada, through the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives, on October 12 provided over VND2.24 billion to six projects in Vietnam, which will benefit approximately 7,700 ethnic minority people in seven provinces across the country.

Through these projects, the Canada Fund supports selected communities to solve problems that they identified in the socio-economic, health and education sectors. The contributions will help improve the quality of life for the project’s beneficiaries, especially ethnic minority disabled people and women in three Central Highlands and mountainous areas.

These projects include the construction of two clean water systems and a multi-media classroom in Dak Nong province, a cow raising project for disabled people of various ethnic minority groups in Lam Dong and Yen Bai provinces, installation of six solar-wind power generation units in Binh Dinh province, a project to improve the health and socio-economic status of Muong people in Lac Luong Commune, Hoa Binh province, and the installation of six gravity water systems in six different ethnic minority communities in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province.
