Asian Banks: Measuring Up to New Challenges
The 21st annual meeting of the Asian Banks Association (ABA) will be convened for the first time in Vietnam on November 4-5, 2004, with the participation of 120 senior banking experts from 25 regional countries. Discussion will be conducted over four sessions on the topics: “Managing financial globalization: The way forward”, “Asian banking: Sizing up profit potential in the new Millennium”, “Corporate restructuring and privatisation” and “ Reform and development of Insolvency Law in the region”. The aim is to help member banks develop a road map to face the latest challenges of globalisation.
ABA consists of 120 leading banks in the Asia-Pacific region, seeking solutions to financial issues and co-operation in the region. The association was established in 1981 as a forum for member banks to exchange views and information on banking development in the region.
Vietnam Foreign Trade Bank (Vietcombank) will host the meeting. The bank has maintained its leading role among Vietnamese commercial banks and has been lauded by The Banker Magazine as “The best bank” for five consecutive years (2000-2004).
