MNRE to Issue Circular on Environmental Planning

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) recently hosted a conference in Ho Chi Minh City to collect expert opinions for the Governmental Decree on Strategic Environmental Planning and assess environmental impacts and southern environmental protection plans.

 

The Law on Environmental Protection 2014, passed by the lawmaking National Assembly on June 23, 2014, is scheduled to come into force on January 1, 2015. Three governmental decrees will be issued to guide the enforcement of the law. Currently, MNRE is urgently drafting and seeking consultations for these decrees and will issue instructive circulars when the law takes effect. The Government will issue decrees on strategic environmental planning, environmental impact assessment and environmental protection planning. The act is expected to put to an end overlapping environmental protection planning regulations.
