The Republic of Korea (RoK) is the Vietnam’s biggest octopus and cuttlefish importer with a 37.7 percent market share, reported the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
As of September 15th, exports of octopus and cuttlefish to the RoK were valued at USD110.3 million, a year-on-year reduction of 3.5 percent. For frozen octopus, Vietnam made up 31.1 percent of import density in the RoK.
The RoK imports frozen cuttlefish from nearly 20 countries around the world, in which the country imports the most from Vietnam.
As of mid-September, Vietnam’s octopus and cuttlefish export turnover reached USD292.7 million. The second biggest importer of Vietnam’s commodities was Japan at USD71 million, accounting for 24.2 percent of the total. It was followed by the EU and ASEAN with the density of 13.8 percent and 13 percent, respectively.
