Dutch Lady Vietnam Always Aiming for Community Benefits
Dutch Lady Vietnam, a subsidiary of Royal Friesland Foods, has been successfully operating in Vietnam for almost nine years with a long-term view and strategy for the local market. Currently, it has built up a strong footing as one of the most famous dairy products manufacturers in the country.
The market for nutritional products in Vietnam has been growing steadily over the last few years. To seize opportunities from this competitive market DUTCH LADY VIET NAM has paid special attention to the products quality, developing material sources, launching strong market campaigns and coordinating with relevant and scientific organisations to boost its image. In addition, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM has shown great recognition of the business social responsibility through various programmes.
With state of the art technology, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM ensures that all of its products can meet with the consistent standards and strict requirements on food hygiene and safety, in 2002, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM started its “VINUTAS DUTCH LADY Nutrition Award” as an important part in its long –term cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Nutrition Association (VINUTAS). Under this agreement, the company will provide technical assistance and funding to nutrition research programmes in Vietnam as well as funding to the award most outstanding young nutrition scientist.
With an aim to better serve Vietnamese consumers with high-quality and nutritious products, at the end of 2003, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM launched the “Get ready for life” campaign with the message that good nutrition brings people vitality to be ready for life choices. Recently, it has applied the Vitamax formula to further improve the quality of the products.
To date, the company has set up a network of purchasing stations, milk providers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers ranging from big supermarkets in cities to small groceries in rural areas.
As a top-ranking manufacturer of nutrition products, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM recognizes its responsibility in actively contributing to social and community activities. Under a dairy development programme, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM has signed long term fresh milk supply contracts with more than 2,500 households in Binh Duong province and surrounding areas. This programme helps develop farm-based agriculture in Vietnam as well as provides assistance to farmers, supplies equipment and guidance so that farmers can enhance quality of dairy cows and produce high-quality products for consumers. It has not only helped improve stable incomes and employment for the local people but also contributed to the overall development of the dairy sector in the country. In 2004, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM co-organised a seminar on Micronutrients in Childhood Health to provide useful information to all doctors and nutrition practitioners from several healthcare centres across the country. The company has also worked with the Department of Early Childhood Education under the Ministry of Education and Training to implement a project has received high acknowledgment from teachers, pupils and their parents. In addition, it has carried out a famous scholarship programmes named Den Dom Dom, presenting many scholarships each year to Vietnamese schools in all of the 64 cities and provinces nationwide.
Most recently, the company launched the Dutch lady Nutrition Centre with an objective to provide basic practical information in an effective manner to healthcare professionals in general and in the dairy market in particular.
The local market for dairy products is competitive with the presence of many international and very strong local companies. This shows that this is a healthy market and good for the consumers. We also strongly believe that with a population of about 80 million people with steadily increasing disposable income, Vietnam presents lots of growth opportunities in general and in the dairy market.
In early 2005, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM was again granted the Golden dragon Award 2004.

DUTCH LADY VIETNAM is delighted by the fact that its parent company-Friesland foods-has been awarded the “Royal” designation by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to mark the 125th anniversary of Friesland Foods. Like other subsidiaries of Friesland Foods over the world, DUTCH LADY VIETNAM believes that this event is something that one can regard with pride. As Mr. Jack Castelein –managing Director of DUTCH LADY VIETNAM remarks: “The award will of course increase our parent company’s reputation behind the brands and DUTCH LADY VIETNAM will commit, as we have done so far, to denote the designation “By Royal Warrant”.
