US Military Official Visits Vietnam
US Assistance Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Peter Rodman talked with Vietnam's Minister of Defense, General Pham Van Tra, in Hanoi on June 7 during his visit to the Southeast Asian country.
The guest informed the minister that during his meeting with Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Huy Hieu, the two sides had discussed measures to promote bilateral military relations. Rodman also said he believed that his tour to Vietnam would obtain good results.
Minister Tra appraised the guest's trip to Vietnam, saying that it will contribute to enhancing friendship and mutual understanding between the two armies and people.
The same day, the US officer called in at the Technology Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal.
Before leaving Hanoi today, he will meet with officials from the Ministries of Public Security and Foreign Affairs, and visit the Institutes of National Defense and Foreign Relations.
