Vietnam Airlines Launches Direct Flights to Frankfurt

 

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines inaugurated yesterday direct air routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Frankfurt of Germany to attract more German tourists and entrepreneurs to Vietnam, local media said.

 

The airline will use Boeing 777 aircraft to fly from Hanoi to Frankfurt on Monday and Thursday, and from HCM City to the foreign destination on Sunday.  Flights from Frankfurt to Hanoi will departure on Monday and Friday and from Frankfurt to HCM City on Sunday.

 

Opening the direct routes helps shorten the itinerary between Vietnam and Frankfurt to 13 hours from 18 hours previously. Earlier Vietnam Airlines transited in Russia to fly to Frankfurt.

 

Today Vietnam Airlines is launching tourism and aviation promotion programs in Germany with participation of 15 Vietnamese companies and big German and European groups like Thomas Cook, and TUI.

 

According to representatives of Vietnam Airlines in Germany, Do Duong Quy, the carrier hopes to serve 76,000 German tourists to Vietnam this year and 100,000 people in the next few years, from 67,400 in 2004 and 58,500 in 2003.
