Russian, German Firms Show Interest in Metro Projects in HCM City
Russia’s Jobrus company and Siemens-AG of Germany are seeking to invest in metro projects in Ho Chi Minh City, State media said.
Jobrus has expressed with Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee that it is willing to design, provide capital, build and put into operation the city’s metro network on schedule under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) form.
Jobrus and Siemens-AG have also agreed to exchange experts to define the possibility of building the second, the third and the forth metro routes in Ho Chi Minh City. The second route will run from Ben Thanh Market to Tham Luong and Tan Binh district, the third from Ben Thanh Market to Mien Tay Station and the last one from Ben Thanh Market to Nguyen Oanh and Go Vap district.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to build six metro routes and three tram or monorail routes by 2020 in order to ease traffic congestion.
Ho Chi Minh City is the biggest commercial hub in Vietnam with a total population of around seven million people and GDP per capita of US$1,500.
