In preparation for economic integration, Dak Uy Coffee Company - a member of Vietnam Coffee Corporation (Vinacafe), has developed trademarks for coffee beans and powder.

Mr Hoang Trung Quy, Director of Dak Uy Coffee Company reaffirmed that the company will secure a sustainable development in 2006 and in following years. To this end, the company will focus on intensive cultivation in traditional areas and develop business efficiency in other areas. Post-harvest technology will be applied to increase the product quality. The company has invested a wet production line of 20 tons per hour and a dry production line of 12 tons per hour together with storage of 5,000 tons. The application of new technology in production and processing have helped reduce the cost and increase the choice of customers. In particular, the company has assisted farmers when they face difficulties in climate or price fluctuation in the world market. Besides coffee as the main product, the company has invested in rubber, beef, and diversified services to ensure stable development and welfare.

2005 was a difficult year for the company; the profit of VND3.2 billion was not sufficient for the banking interest rates. The prolonged drought has reduced the coffee output by 25-30 per cent. The company had to apply such measures as completely contracting coffee areas to farmers to make the best use of their resources and labour, selling unused assets to recover capital and reduce production costs. As a result, on an area of 1,000 hectares of coffee in 2005, the company has increased the productivity to two tons per hectare and the output of 2,541 tons of processed coffee.

In fact, the company has contributed to the trademark of Vietnamese coffee and is prepared for economic integration.
