Vietnam Machinery Installation Corp (Lilama) signed on December 13 a US$25.8 million contract with a consortium building the Dung Quat oil refinery to lay pipelines and carry out other tasks.

The consortium, led by France’s Technip, includes Malaysia’s Technip Geoproduction, Japan’s JGC, and Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas.

Under the contract ending in May 2008, Lilama will provide equipment and install pipes for Bid 1 and Bid 4 of the Quang Ngai province-based refinery.

Earlier this year Lilama won a US$70.4 million contract from the consortium to supply tanks and piping for the oil refining complex - the first of its kind in Vietnam.

That contract, for Bid 2 and Bid 3, will be completed by March 2008. Lilama has supplied tanks, pressure tanks, pipes, paints, and insulation material.

Dung Quat refinery, costing US$2.5 billion, will be able to process 6.5 million tons of crude oil per year when it goes on stream in late 2008 or early 2009.
