Int'l Mekong Expo 2008 to Open Late This Month
The Can Tho International Exhibition and Fair Company will organize the international Mekong Expo 2008 from April 29 to May 5 in the largest Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, the Investment newspaper reported on April 21.
The expo entitled “Developing industry, trade, irrigation, rural transport in the Mekong Delta” is one of activities under the National Tourism Year 2008 which has been launched in the city.
The week-long event is expected to attract about 300 participants, displaying a wide range of products such as machines, equipment, scientific and technical advance serving for transport works.
Can Tho is not only a key artery junction and a socio-economic and cultural center of the Mekong River Delta, is but also considered the capital city of the crisscrossed canals and rivers in the western region.
The city, which currently has 135 hotels and guesthouses, including 26 star-rated and 80 well-equipped ones capable of serving visitors, targets to welcome two million visitors and earn revenues of VND500 billion (US$31.2 million) this year. (Investment)
