Homebuyers in Vietnam can now borrow up to 80% of the value of their apartments from commercial banks on installments, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the country’s central bank, said.

The loans will mature over five years, the SBV said in its circular issued August 14.

Under the circular, those with low-incomes are eligible to get 70% of the home’s value from banks also.

From now to 2010, about 48,300 apartments will be offered for sales. (SBV)
