Vietinbank Arm Gets US$49M Bid to Insure 3G Services of EVN Telecom

Bao Ngan Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Vietnam JS Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), has won a bid worth US$49.07 million to insure 3G service project developed by EVN Telecommunications Co. (EVN Telecom).
 
The insurer has meet strict technical requirements by Huawei Technologies Ltd., Co. which will provide 3G equipment and solutions for EVN Telecom, the Dau Tu newspaper reported Wednesday.
 
The China-based Huawei will help the Vietnamese partner to build nearly 3,000 Node B base transceiver stations (BTS) in 60 cities and provinces throughout Vietnam in the first phase prior to April 30.
 
EVN Telecom plans to invest VND3 trillion (US$157.1 million) to develop its 3G infrastructure.
 
Currently, VinaPhone and MobiFone is supplying 3G services in Vietnam, and Viettel, EVN Telecom-HT Mobile plan the launch by April this year. (Investment)
