Vietnam Woodwork Exports Estimated at $3.4B in 2010
Vietnam is estimated to have earned $3.408 billion from woodwork export activities in 2010, surpassing its initial set target of $400 million, said the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
The figure rose by 31.2% on year in value, the GSO said, adding that the U.S. and EU remain the two largest importers of Vietnamese woodwork.
To boost exports to these markets, local officials said that Vietnamese companies will have to use timber getting Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificate.
The country is estimated to have spent $1.14 billion on importing wood and woodworks this year, up 26.7% on-year. (GSO)
