Truong Son Construction Consulting Company, set up in 2000, is a typical company in Quang Binh province given its contributions to local socioeconomic development. The company has gotten through many difficulties and challenges to assert its reputation to customers inside and outside the province.
Diversifying operations
In 10 years, its construction consulting revenues increased 100 times from VND300 million in 2000 to VND30 billion in 2010; its workforce expanded 30 times from three persons in 2000 to 90 persons at present, of which university graduates or postgraduates account for 65 percent. The company always fulfils all worker regulations. The average monthly income of a full-time employee was VND7.3 million in 2010. For the time being, the company’s construction consulting is considered at the national level.
In addition to construction consultancy, the company is also engaged in electricity and water investment and other fields. Particularly, Truong Son holds a 30 percent stake in Song Thai water plant which supplies tap water to Hon La Economic Zone in Quang Trach district, and keeps a 40 percent stake in Rao Tran hydropower plant in Thua Thien - Hue province.
To pass through this tough time, the company has very specific, detailed plans for every step. Truong Son advocates relying on internal forces rather than external ones; thus, it has been little impacted by outside factors, particularly when the Vietnamese dong is devalued or interest rates soar.
Achievements
Apart from the business front, the company is always very active in charity activities. Since its establishment, Truong Son Construction Consulting Company has spent nearly VND5 billion for this purpose. It always creates the best working environment for employees. At present, it has a lean dynamic administrative apparatus and has applied ISO9001: 2000 international standard since 2001.
In recognition of its contributions, the company was awarded certificates of merit by the Prime Minister, Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee, ministries and other institutions. In 2006, it was proud to be granted the Vietnam Gold Star Award, one of 150 Vietnamese companies to win this title. In 2011, it was honourably conferred the Third Class Labour Order by the State President.
