HCM City Shipyard to Build Two Large Cargo Ships in 2005

The Ho Chi Minh City-based Bao Tin Shipyard has won contracts to build two 3,800-ton cargo ships worth nearly VND90 billion (USUS$5.73 million) for two transport firms in the city.

Each ship is 80 meters long and 13.5 meters wide, and they will be finished this year.

The shipwright will also reform a 200-seat passenger ship, make six bifurcation buoys for Ha Tien Cement Co. No. 1 and repair three 600-1,000-ton ships this year. It expects to double revenues compared to last year.

Early this month, Bao Tin Shipyard transferred the 1,300-DWT Nghia Hong 16 vessel for Nam Dinh Sea Shipping Co.
