Chu Lai Airport to Receive First Commercial Flight Tomorrow

The Chu Lai Airport in the central province of Quang Nam is expected to receive the first commercial flight tomorrow, after 30 years of closure, according to Vietnam Airlines.

There will be 50 passengers on the ATR72 airplane from Ho Chi Minh City to arrive at the airport. The passengers will be offered with free taxi ride to Tam Ky Town.

Vietnam Airlines will officially conduct two flights per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Chu Lai from March 28.

With an area of 2,300 hectares and a 3-km runway, Chu Lai Airport will be a key cargo and passenger transit point in the Asia Pacific. It is located 25 km north of Tam Ky Town, 20 km south of Dung Quat Economic Zone and 100 km from Danang Airport.

The operation of the airport is expected to boost the investment in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and the Dung Quat Economic Zone in the neighboring Quang Ngai province.
