This is the first of the four Vinamotor factories under construction in the Dong Vang Auto Industrial Complex in the province. The Vietnam Motors Industry Corporation (Vinamotor) is investing VND3,000 billion (USUS$191 million) in these projects.
Currently, the construction and equipment installation of factory is being completed by Vietnam Machinery Installation Corp. (Lilama), Ngo Gian Tu Automobile Mechanical Co., Mechanics Co. 30-4 and Lien A Industrial Equipment Co.
The plant will specialize in manufacturing components under the Hyundai technology. In 2005, it plans to turn out 1,000 car shells for 24-29-seat buses and 1-2.5-ton trucks, fulfilling 50 per cent of the designed capacity.
In the first phase to 2007, the State-run Vinamotor will complete the construction of four factories in the complex, including a Huyndai-Vietnam auto factory capable of making 20,000 cars of 5-29 seats and trucks of 2-8 tons a year under Hyundai technology, a diesel engine factory with 30,000 units of 80-400 HP per annum, a car glass factory under the technology of Finland and a gearbox factory equipped with Hyundai technology.
