The year 2019 has witnessed a remarkable development milestone of Long An International Port (LAIP), proving its position as an important trade gateway for Long An province in particular and for the whole Mekong Delta region in general.

Long An International Port covers 147 ha in the total project area of 1,935 ha. Costing over VND9 trillion for construction, divided into three phases, the port has seven berths with a total length of 1,670 meters capable of accommodating vessels 30,000 - 50,000 DWT and four ferries for barges of 2,000 tons. The 40-ha warehousing area serves the need of transporting and storing agricultural and aquatic commodities in the Mekong Delta region and a place for exporters and importers in the Southeast region to gather their goods and distribute them by road, sea or inland waterway. This is one of the largest seaports in the Mekong Delta region.

In addition to conventional port services, Long An International Port provides full-package logistics services that deliver added value to customers, including international freight, international multimodal shipping, forwarding, warehousing and customs clearance. By becoming partners of Long An International Port, customers will save a lot of logistics costs, enjoy many incentives and optimize profits.

The first half of Phase 1 (2016-2021) in the development strategy has marked outstanding growth in productivity and cargo throughput of LAIP. As of October 2019, the number of vessels docked nearly tripled from the same period in 2018, with wharfs operated at a maximum capacity of 30 days a month. Most notably, LAIP successfully served many ships of up to 30,000 DWT.

Along with the operation and completion of Phase 1, LAIP has been developing full-package logistics services with port services being the center. In 2018 - 2019, the LAIP leadership has worked continuously to complete the business plan and other development goals. Accordingly, the central task of this phase is to improve the quality of current bulk cargo services by reducing the loss in ship/warehouse services and diversifying services, particularly container services.

In addition to the effective performance of Wharf No. 1, Wharf No.2, which will serve container carriers of 50,000 DWT when it is in service, will be the driving force for the boom of port services. The Business Development Department is resolved to increase the company’s revenue and gross profit, much higher than in the initial period of operation.

Along with the port development and construction, LAIP’s Logistics Service Group is running more than one million square meters of professional warehouses, using barcodes for freight management systems in industrial parks and logistics centers in Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. With the operation of the ERP Management System for the entire system, Long An International Port will be a trailblazer in applying Logistics 4.0 management technology.

Long An International Port constantly strives to train and develop its human resources and focuses on attractive remunerations and competitive wages to ensure the welfare and life of its employees. Its strong development is driven by young, talented and devoted employees.

2020 is expected to be a year of strong growth for Long An International Port and help it assert its position and start the stage of becoming a trade gateway not only for Long An province but also for the Mekong Delta region.
