Chinese-invested Zinc-lead Refinery Plant Becomes Operational

The Ta Pan zinc-lead refinery plant, built with investment mainly from China, has been put into operation in the northernmost Ha Giang province.
 
The plant, which employs nearly 100 local workers, has a refining capacity of 300 tons of ore per day to produce 5,800-6,000 tons of zinc-lead a year for domestic demand and export.
 
The project has a total investment of US$1.08 million, including US$758,100 from a Chinese private firm. The Vietnamese partner is Ha Giang Mineral Exploiting and Engineering Company.
 
The construction of the plant began at Lung Vay hamlet, Minh Son commune, Bac Me district in early 2004.
