German Enterprises Eager to Invest in Vietnam
Big groups from Germany's Bayern State are keen on carrying out long-term investment in Vietnam, particularly in the areas of energy, infrastructure, education and training, affirmed state Governor Edmund Stoifer.
The Governor made the statement during his meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi on March 27.
This is the first time he came to Vietnam, with a delegation of entrepreneurs, university representatives and journalists, showing Germany's special interest in Vietnam's market, he said.
At the meeting, PM Dung thanked the German Government for its annual official development assistance (ODA) of US$40 million to Vietnam's infrastructure, education and training development.
Two-way trade value reached US$2 billion with Bayern making up almost US$350 million, the PM said, adding that presently German investors have 70 projects in Vietnam worth a total capital of US$400 million.
However, the PM noted, investment cooperation has not yet reached its potential.
The PM urged relevant agencies, organizations and businesses of both sides to seek measures effectively tapping their potential and strengths for the benefit of both peoples. (Labour)
