Japan, Vietnam Sign 7.3Bln JYen Power Deal
The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) have just signed a credit deal to construct a thermo-power plant with total investment of 7.3 billion Japanese Yen, state media said.
Haiphong Thermo-power JS Co set up by EVN, Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group and Vietnam Insurance Group, is named the project developer, EVN with dominant stakes of 87.5 per cent.
Once operational in the fourth quarter 2009, the 600 megawatt plant, scheduled to be kicked off in the second quarter this year, will generate 3.6 billion kWh of electricity a year for the country’s power grid.
Dongfang-Marubeni consortium will provide facilities for the work. (Vietnam Economic Times)
