Dong Nai General Services and Agriculture Cooperative (DonaCoop) May 1 started construction on a US$1.2-billion eco-urban area in southern Dong Nai province, state media.

The urban area, invested by VinaCapital, Singapore’s Keppel Land and An Phu Long Joint Stock, includes a luxury eco-entertainment center, a hotel complex and resettlement areas, the Pioneer newspaper said.

The 671-hectare urban area is scheduled for completion for 15 years. It is located by Dong Nai river, which is contiguous to Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9 and Dong Nai’s future Long Thanh International Airport.

Linson Lim, Keppel Land’s representative director in Vietnam, said Keppel Land is expanding its investments in the country.

The company has to date poured around US$3 billion in 16 projects of offices, retail sales centers and hi-end apartments in Vietnam’s big cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau and Dong Nai. (Pioneer, Vietstock)
