Over 100,000 Vietnamese Firms Join World’s Leading B2B Website
More than 100,000 Vietnamese firms have to date joined www.alibaba.com, one of the global leaders in business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce Websites, said China’s Alibaba Group.
About 4,000 Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have become partners of the Website each month, representing an increase of 105 per cent during the June 2008 to June 2009 period, the company reported.
In early June, the Vietnam industry and trade information center (VITIC) and the Alibaba group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on accelerating e-commerce development and facilitating international trade for local SMEs.
Under the MoU, the group will provide consultancy for the VITIC in developing its e-commerce project and help Vietnamese SMEs participate in global trade.
Established in 1999, Alibaba.com is now the world’s leading connector, linking SMEs with potential importers and dependable suppliers worldwide.
Up to 8.6 million members from 240 countries and territories have joined the Website as of the first quarter of 2009. (Young People, New Hanoi)
