Vietnam Cross-border Trade Falls 12.5%-58.98% in H1
Cross-border trade between Vietnam and its neighbors of China, Laos and Cambodia in the first half of this year decreased between 12.5% and 58.98% on-year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
Vietnam and China’s cross-border trade reported the highest fall of 58.98% to US$1.24 billion during the time, said the ministry.
It was followed by Cambodia with US$382.73 million and Laos with US$196 million, down 16.44% and 12.5% on-year, respectively.
Trade between Vietnam and China and Cambodia is expected to increase to US$21.5 billion and US$2 billion, representing respective on-year rises of 6.9% and 17.5%, the MoIT added.
Vietnam and Laos aim to boost the bilateral trade to US$1 billion by 2010 and US$2 billion by 2015. (Vietnam Economic Times)
