The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance was calling for more supports from the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) on the occasion IFAP's leaders delegation visited Vietnam.
Nguyen Tien Quan, head of the alliance said Vietnamese cooperatives are faced by numerous difficulties, noting that the cooperatives are need of more training courses for agricultural cooperative officers and experiences in helping farmers get rich.
Jack Wilkinson, head of IFAP and leader of the delegation promised that the federation will give more assistance to Vietnamese cooperatives.
Vietnam is now home to around 15,000 cooperatives.
IFAP is the world farmers’ organization representing over 600 million families groups in 115 national organizations in 80 countries.
The focus of IFAP’s policy work is to improve the position of farmers in a rapidly changing world-wide environment, characterized by globalization, liberalization and changes in what is expected from the agricultural sector. (Economy & Cooperation)
