People Committee of central Quang Ngai province has approved Tan Mai Paper JSC to build a paper and pulp mill in Binh Long commune, Binh Son district, the Thanh Nien newspaper said.
The mill, with total investment of nearly US$200 million, will be able to produce 200,000 tons of white paper and 130,000 tons of pulp per annum.
Tan Mai Paper JSC, one of the biggest paper producers in Vietnam, supplied nearly 50 per cent of newsprint for local market.
Vietnam is now home to 300 pulp and paper mills, which are able to produce 288,000 tons of pulp and 850,000 tons of paper annually, meeting only 30 per cent of the demand. (Young People, Vietnam Agriculture)
