Vietnam was estimated to have fetched US$204 million from exports to South Korea in the first two months of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s website.

In February, the country’s total export to the foreign country stood at US$83.32 million, said the website without giving on-year comparison figure.

Seafood products were the country’s biggest cash earner from South Korea with US$36.14 million, followed by garments and textiles US$18.47 million, coffee US$14.43 million, rubber US$13.1 million, and wood and woodwork products US$12.7 million.

Currently, South Korea is Vietnam's sixth largest trading partner, with bilateral trade accounting for 6.6 per cent of Vietnam’s total import-export turnover from 2002 to early 2006.

However, Vietnam has consistently recorded a trade deficit with the RoK, in large part due to the foreign country’s increased investments in Vietnam and the ASEAN nation’s imports of machinery, spare parts and equipment, cars and materials for garment and textiles manufacturing. (Vinanet)
