State-owned oil monopoly PetroVietnam group is scheduled to report process of its power projects and gas supply capacity from Cuu Long, Nam Con Son and PM3-CAA basins to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) before August 20.
The move aims to seek permission for improving effectiveness of natural gas use and power generation.
PetroVietnam has recently worked with the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV), the MoIT’s Energy Department, and the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to discuss measures to boost cooperation in mobilizing power from Ca Mau 1, Ca Mau 2, and Nhon Trach 1, especially between August and December this year.
During the gathering, PetroVietnam asked EVN to set up a working team to coordinate with PetroVietnam and PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) to hold monthly meetings to deal with issues emerged from power mobilizing and gas supply.
Vietnam is estimated to lack 8.6 billion kWh of power this year, 36 billion kWh in 2020 and 120 billion kWh in 2030. (Labor)
