Scientists have found rich reserves of titan-zircon ores in central coastal Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces and the northern part of southern coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
Head of the Vietnam Department of Geology and Mining Tran Xuan Huong said that the conclusion was reached after series of studies on the red sand layer in said localities carried out by the department in 2005-2008.
As the result, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is working on a detailed project on the country’s potential of titan-zircon ores up to 2010 to be submitted to the Prime Minister.
Professor Doctor Tran Van Tri said that the titan-zircon mineral ores are not only located in the red sand layer of the said provinces, but also found around Phu Quy island, Binh Thuan province. (VNA, Vietnam & World Economy)
