The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has given certificates to catfish products imported from Vietnam, confirming that the products are safe and not infected by toxin, the Vietnam Agriculture reported.
The move is response to a rumor on internet saying that Vietnamese catfish, which were sold under Pangas or Sutchi names in Singapore, contained toxin because they were reared in the seriously polluted Mekong Delta River.
AVA received 100 phone calls from consumers showing their worry about the products’ safety, according to the Straits Times.
“The rumor saying that Vietnamese catfish available on international market containing toxin and bacterium is not true,” spokesman of the AVA Goh Shih Yong told with the Straits Times. (Vietnam Agriculture)
