Vinacomin Opens Vietnams First Ore-to-Copper Plant

The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) August 25 inaugurated the Tang Loong copper refining plant in northern Lao Cai province.
 
This is the first factory refining copper from ore Vinacomin has invested VND1.3 trillion (US$78.78 million) in Vietnam. The consortium of the China Colored Metal Construction Joint Stock Company and the Vietnam Industrial Construction Corporation built the plant.
 
The factory has a capacity of 10,160 tons per year in the first phase and its capacity will be raised to between 15,000 tons and 20,000 tons in the years to come.
 
The project was kicked off in February 2009.
 
Vinacomin said when fully operational, the Sin Quyen Copper Complex in Lao Cai province will contribute VND100 billion to the State budget and create 1,000 jobs annually. (Industry & Trade)
